Job Summary:
Responsibility Overview:
- Perform bindery function as noted on work orders/job tickets. This may include: folding, cutting, padding, numbering, GBC punching, spiral or coil binding, collating, scoring, perforating, drilling, stitching or stapling, laminating and wrapping.
- Establish priorities by dates on work orders/job tickets and when necessary, priorities set by management.
- Package jobs, complete job tickets/work orders and delivery receipts as necessary, and place them in designated areas.
- Collect, package and prepare completed output and deliverables according to high quality standards and ensure they meet customer requirements.
- Keep equipment clean, lubricated, and operable.
- Order supplies required using proper procedures.
- Minimum of one year in a production-type workplace.
- A willingness to be proactive and take action.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
- Team player that can work with others to deliver a project on time.
- Reject poor quality or incorrect jobs and notify management.
- Extensive knowledge in the setup, adjustments and operations of a variety of bindery equipment (i.e. Perfect Binder, Stitch Liner, etc.)
- Monitor quality, output and productivity and perform other duties assigned.
- Ability to read and interpret written work, maintain accuracy with instructions provided.
- Extensive knowledge of bindery machines to create a finished product.
- Thorough knowledge of the setup, adjustment, capabilities and limitations of equipment including binding, folding, collating, and cutting of a finished product.
- Ability to use the tools and devices necessary to adjust and maintain accuracy and operating conditions of the bindery machines.
- Knowledge in basic mathematics including decimals, and metric units.
- Knowledge of different paper weights, sizes, and kinds to be able to identify paper conditions that could have a negative effect on the bindery process.
